Those of you who are reading this, who already wear glasses, may be looking for ways to improve your eyesight. Many people dream of throwing away their glasses. What many sadly do not realize, is that it is actually possible to achieve this dream.

The first thing that you will need to do is to have a look at your diet. As will all areas of you health your diet can have an overwhelming positive effect, and eye health is no exception to this rule. Essential Fatty acids are extremely important for good eye health and can be found in fish such as salmon and sardines. Berries such as blueberries, and cranberries are also rich in essential fatty acids. Also important are foods that are rich in antioxidants such as citrus fruits and kiwis.

Carrots can improve vision, as they are rich in beta carotene which is essential for good eyesight, as is food which is rich in lutein, such as leafy green vegetables.

Of course we are always been told that relaxation and a stress free life is fundamental for good health. This is also true for eye health. When we strain the muscles in the eyes this has a negative effect on our vision. One of the ways to relax our eyes and eliminate eye strain is to wear pinhole glasses for at least 15 minutes a day. Pinhole glasses relax the eye by eliminating eye scattering on the retina. They also eliminate peripheral vision which can be very tiring for the eyes.

Other ways of relaxing the eye muscles is to carry out exercises such as Palming which are fundamental exercises in the Bates Exercise Method. In fact the ophthalmologist William Horatio Bates dedicated his life to helping people understand that relaxation of the eye muscles is essential to good eye health. He also passionately believed that there are ways to improve your eyesight, other than wearing glasses.
