How to Achieve Eyesight Improvement   Research has shown that one of the most effective ways to achieve eyesight improvement is to dedicate time to carrying out the Bates Exercise Method. William Horatio Bates was a pioneering Ophthalmologist born in the United States. He was passionate about finding out as much as he could about vision correction. After years of research on thousands of people who suffered from eye problems, he discovered that wearing glasses actually makes your eyesight worse, rather than better! Of course this was a revolutionary statement and he attracted a lot of critics. Yet, he also gained lots of faithful patients. This was because those who carried out his exercises more often than not gained a remarkable improvement in their vision and were actually able to throw their glasses away. He also stressed the importance of diet and stated that many eye problems are actually caused by diet and vitamin deficiencies. In order to keep eyes healthy he advocated a regime of exercises and a well balanced diet. Up until this day people who faithfully follow the Bates exercises have been able to take responsibility for their own eye health, rather than relying on the prescriptions…

What Is Acid Reflux?
Blog / 11/23/2013

What Is Acid Reflux?   Acid reflux disease, also known as gastro-esophageal reflux disease, or GERD, occurs due to the coexistence of two medical conditions. The first acid reflux disease contributing condition is a retrograde flow of stomach contents into the esophagus. However, the reflux itself does not necessarily lead to gastro-esophageal reflux disease symptoms or histologic changes, and can occur among healthy individuals as well. In this case, the process is referred to as “physiologic gastroesophageal reflux”. The second acid reflux disease predisposing condition is a lower esophageal sphincter (LES) malfunction. The LES is a 3-cm to 4-cm ring of muscle, which is two to three times thicker than the proximal esophagus and acts as a valve between the esophagus and the stomach. In the case of acid reflux disease, the LES does not close perfectly and stomach contents splashes up into the esophagus. When pathologic symptoms follow this process, the whole condition is called acid reflux disease. Gastro-esophageal reflux disease is usually experienced as a persistent (at least twice a week) heartburn. Heartburn is the burning sensation in the chest or throat, caused by refluxed stomach contents touching the lining of the esophagus. Since healthy individuals may also…

Why Some Hemorrhoids Cure & Treatment Myths Could Make You Ill by Janet Pfeiffer Best-Selling Author of Hemorrhoids Saviour   There’s a lot of mis-information about the cure and treatment of hemorrhoids. Some remedies are not just ineffective, they can cause serious health problems. Advice from well-meaning researchers should be followed with great caution. I’ve been researching and treating hemorrhoids and associated disorders for more than 20 years. I began my career as an RN in Australia and worked with a leading colon-rectal surgeon. I assisted in theatre with operations, so you can believe me when I say I have seen it all. And I also worked in the clinic taking case histories and giving pre and post operative advice. So you can believe me when I say I have heard it all. Apart from being one of the most misspelled medical terms (from “hemroids” to “hemoroids” and dozens of variations in between), it is also one of the most embarrassing medical complaints. Treatments for this ailment are among the most commonly shoplifted items from pharmacies – simply because those suffering from this painful affliction find it too uncomfortable to ask for a product. Better Vision for Greater Memory To keep the memory sharp, it is important to maintain vision. Relaxation is the key to maintain vision for many years. Vision and mental focus go hand in hand and both don’t do well with strain and stress. Relaxation and inner peace is important in remembering things. All these things rely on each other to work properly. A great way to test the condition of the eyes is a mental memory exercise. In this exercise, the goal is to maintain a visual image for as long as possible. To start, cover one eye and glance quickly at a letter on the page with the other eye. Close your eyes and hold the image of the letter in your mind as long as possible. Count how many seconds the image stays in your mind before fading away to darkness. Take note of this number. Do the same thing for the other eye and compare the results. Now relax the eyes and try again. One way to relax the eyes is to close them and concentrate only on pleasant thoughts and good memories. Allow your eyes to focus on the darkness and forget everything around you. Open…
