Puppy Potty Training Using Dog Litter Boxes

Puppy Potty Training Using Dog Litter Boxes   My two dogs love going outside for exercise and play but only if the weather is nice. If there is bad weather like snowstorms or heavy rain showers, they don’t want to go out at all and I don’t blame them. The good thing is that unlike most other canines that have to go out to do their business at least two to three times per day in all sorts of weather conditions, my two dogs can stay in if the weather is rotten out there. This is because both of my dogs went through puppy potty training using dog litter boxes. Right from day one when I got them at ten weeks of age, they were both introduced to dog litter boxes. This method of puppy potty training has become more and more popular each year as pet stores are stocking specialized litter and pans made especially for canines. No More Bad Weather Dog Walks Up here in Canada, the winters can get really cold, windy, wet and just miserable. It’s certainly not something to look forward to each morning if you have to get up and take your dog outside…

Older Senior Dogs Can Benefit Using Dog Litterboxes

Older Senior Dogs Can Benefit Using Dog Litterboxes   Dogs are in many ways just like us humans. They eventually become older just like people do and as senior dogs, they can lose a bit of mobility. When this happens, doing outside for walks may be a challenge. This is especially true during bad weather days with snow and rain. This is a fact that many dog owners forget especially while their pets are still active and energetic. But there will come a time while your pet will slow down quite a bit. This is when the use of dog litterboxes as part of dog toilet training while young will benefit puppies when they become older senior dogs. Rather than have to go outside for elimination, they can simply go to a designated place inside the house. An indoor dog toilet can come in the form of a dog litterbox specifically designed for canines these days. This location will be much closer to get to and of course more dry compared to an outdoor spot. It turns out that not only older seniors but dogs of any age who might have injuries or illnesses which also limit their mobility, can…

Dog Potty Training Indoors

Dog Potty Training Indoors I got my first Lhasa Apso dog Pepper back in 1979. I was getting him use to using newspapers since that’s how many puppies start out with dog potty training. It wasn’t too long before I had moved out on my own to a high-rise condominium in downtown Toronto. My new home was an eighth floor suite in the middle of a busy downtown area with no parks nearby. I was also starting a new career that had long unpredictable days. So based on all this, I decided to continue to dog potty train Pepper to use newspapers indoors in a little room that was meant to be where my washer and dryer was. He got use to this location really well and when I got a second Lhasa Apso I named Max, I trained the new puppy to use the newspapers indoors as well. Max just copied what Pepper was doing so it was really easy. I ended up having two dogs that were completely paper trained indoors. If I came home late, it was okay because I didn’t have to rush to take them outside to do their business. They already did on the…
