Older Senior Dogs Can Benefit Using Dog Litterboxes

Older Senior Dogs Can Benefit Using Dog Litterboxes   Dogs are in many ways just like us humans. They eventually become older just like people do and as senior dogs, they can lose a bit of mobility. When this happens, doing outside for walks may be a challenge. This is especially true during bad weather days with snow and rain. This is a fact that many dog owners forget especially while their pets are still active and energetic. But there will come a time while your pet will slow down quite a bit. This is when the use of dog litterboxes as part of dog toilet training while young will benefit puppies when they become older senior dogs. Rather than have to go outside for elimination, they can simply go to a designated place inside the house. An indoor dog toilet can come in the form of a dog litterbox specifically designed for canines these days. This location will be much closer to get to and of course more dry compared to an outdoor spot. It turns out that not only older seniors but dogs of any age who might have injuries or illnesses which also limit their mobility, can…

Causes of Acid Reflux
Blog / 07/19/2014

Causes of Acid Reflux   Acid reflux disease, also known as gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD), occurs due to the coexistence of several medical and lifestyle conditions. Physiological factors that trigger GERD include lower esophageal sphincter (LES) hypotonia (the gradual weakening of the LES), along with retrograde flow of stomach contents into the esophagus, and the level of sensitivity of the esophageal mucus to the reflux content. The food that you swallow travels down your throat and is pushed by contractions of the muscular esophagus. In the area where the esophagus joins the stomach a valve-like mechanism, known as lower esophageal sphincter (LES), is located. The closure of this muscle prevents stomach acid from backing up, or refluxing, into the esophagus. LES malfunction is the first factor that causes and contributes to gastro-esophageal reflux disease. In a healthy individual, the LES relaxes only when food passes from the esophagus into the stomach. After the food passes into the stomach, the valve shuts off, keeping the stomach content and acid inside. However, when the LES is weak and doesn’t close properly, acid can splash up into your throat causing painful burning sensation, called heartburn. There are several factors/conditions, which can prevent the…

Practicing Guitar Like a Pro By Tennyson Williams, Author of The Essential Guide To Guitar Virtuosity   The practice routine has always been on the minds of beginning to moderately advancing guitarists, and its always been a question of how should I practice, and how much should I practice? In this article I would like to help you establish what you need to do to meet your guitar goals. Although I can’t spell out the perfect practice routine for every type of musician, I can certainly help you to define, create and refine a practice routine that you can expand upon. The myth There is a big myth that has traveled far and wide, and I think it puts a lot of fear into the minds of beginning guitarists. That myth is that you must practice something like eight hours a day to progress even remotely on the guitar. This is not true, itself, even remotely. If you can practice for even twenty minutes a day, you will make progress and you will see that progress. That is fact, but along with it is another fact. The more you practice, the faster you will see your goals come to life….

Play with Your Kids – It’s Fun   By Winsome Coutts In these busy times, when parents and children have schedules packed to the max, family closeness can fall by the wayside. Most of us have to make an effort to guarantee that work, school, sports, and chores don’t swallow up the very relationships that make those things important. When is the last time you played or goofed around with your child? Can you remember back that far? Many parents can’t. Life has made us so serious, so focused, that we’ve lost the joy of the simple things, and play was one of the first to go. But as any child instinctively knows, play is essential to life. It brightens the heart and lightens the spirit. For kids, who live closer than we do to nature, play is as spontaneous as breathing. Sadly, most grown-ups have lost that skill. Our children can be our refresher course. Playing with your child brings you back to the present, reminds you of what matters, and slows you down long enough to smell the roses. It also connects you emotionally with your child, rebuilding the closeness that the fast-paced, boring routines of life are…

My Dog Doesn’t Come When I Call
Blog / 07/18/2014

My Dog Doesn’t Come When I Call One of the most common complaints is “my dog doesn’t come when I call”. Training the recall is one of the funniest of all dog-training exercises because we do so much completely wrong! Let me explain. This is what we want to achieve: When we call our dog “here Bella” we want Bella to come sprinting as fast as she can to us. Now, in order to achieve this we must make “here Bella” the best command in the world. With the best result and rewards at the end! So here are some tips! Never call your dog if you are thinking of telling her off! You can undo months and months of hard work training your dog to come by telling her off just once. Suddenly coming when you call could be a really bed move! 9 times out of 10 make sure that your dog has a good experience when she comes if you call you. On the 10th recall if you need to put your dog on a leash then do so. When you call your dog to you think of coming as more of a “check in with me”…

What Type of A Drinker Are You?   According to a recent UK Department of Health study, there are several reasons as to why people drink to excess on a regular basis. They have identified nine main groups or reasons why people do it heavily. Heavy drinking is defined as 35 units per week for women and 50 units per week for men. This is twice the recommended limit. Although this is obviously just a general guide, where do you think you fit into this? It may be you fit across categories or even have other reasons outside of the nine presented below.
